About Dirk Andel

Experienced Upstream Director with 27 years of international experience and expertise in directing large multidisciplinary and diverse groups in highly complex, multibillion-dollar projects and portfolios to deliver improved performance, business growth and bottom line results. My unique breadth of end-to-end experience in Upstream Oil & Gas greenfield and brownfield development, projects, operations and cost leadership, together with a keen business sense and strong project management skills, enables me to quickly understand and address the needs of the business. A heightened cultural intelligence allows me to relate to a diversity of people and readily build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders alike. A key ability of mine is Roadmapping to Results: determining where a team/organisation/business currently is, establishing where it could/should be, defining the actions, steps and resources needed to get there, and leading a team to deliver these results. I will typically conduct detailed analysis and use external competitive views to drive transformation and enhance asset return on investment, and embed effective MI and BI tools as a basis for performance management, continuous improvement and evolving asset management strategies. My favoured approach is to collaborate and integrate across functions to identify, prioritise, mature and deliver value-adding opportunities. As a leader I provide clarity of direction, a sense of urgency and encourage contribution to create teams that are engaged, results focused and energised to perform and deliver. I also have a passion for coaching, developing and mentoring staff, with a track record of identifying and growing untapped local talent.
