Co-founded a forward-thinking software and services company in the then new field of geographical information systems. We created ground-breaking new geospatial software and database technology and established the geo-data trading business in the Netherlands. The software and databases are still in use in many GIS products. We served the energy & utility, public safety, and retail verticals.

From Tensing Geoformatica in the Netherlands we spawned a subsidiary in Germany. I acted as the managing director of the new company. Tensing GeoInformatik created the first digital, map powered business directories in Germany, served public safety organizations and provided its embedded GIS technology to multinational companies such as Siemens. The company was sold off to a Belgian investor.

Pioneering the creation of a navigable road network database for the automotive industry. The database fueled the earliest in-car navigation systems. Tele Atlas was later acquired by Tomtom.
