Working with the C4D (Communications for Development) team on issues related to RMNCH+A throughSocial and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) approaches

As a State Consultant, SBCC in UNICEF Rajasthan office I gained significant exposure to Social and Behaviour Change Communication theory and practice, in the area of RMNCH+A, particularly Routine Immunization (RI) and maternal health. My work included working with partner agencies, understanding barriers to demand for health services and monitoring them for health systems strengthening. I organized workshops and consultations, coordinated with state and district health department officials. My work involved field work in high priority districts in Rajasthan to roll out the SBCC strategy in the state and working to strengthen the same through technical support, capacity assessment and training of field staff and field testing of communication tools and innovating technologies such as the E-janswasthya module. I also supported and managed the RI mid-media campaign rolled out in 10 districts of the state and was responsible for assessing its impact.

-Undertook policy and legislative research for elected representatives (including Members of Parliament and State legislatures) and other policymakers at Central and State levels in all Congress constituencies-Prepared policy briefs, legislative documents, state profiles, constituency factsheets, and contributed to the Journal ‘Policy Watch’ published by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, focusing on issues of women and children-Identified gaps and strengths in the programme villages under the Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojana (RGMVP) in Raebareli, helping over 1.2 million poor households in the most backward and poverty-stricken regions of Uttar Pradesh
