Acts as the Command Security Manager/ Special Security Officer (SSO); Manages the special, information, and personnel security programs for 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) dispersed across 11 countries in CENTCOM, with three Command Posts responsible for more than 17,000 personnel; Deploys to the Operational Command Post (OCP) in Kuwait and Sinai, Egypt to evaluate the security posture, offer expertise, and minimize violations; Interprets and supplement Army regulations and assist in the development of 1st TSC policies and procedures to safeguard classified information; Compiles and analyzes pertinent Security Classification Guides for use in classification reviews and make recommendations for prepared products ensuring proper protection of classified material; Establishes and maintains an automated Security Clearance Access Roster (SCAR) database; Verifies security clearances through Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS); In-processes personnel and conducts initial security orientation briefings; Issues access badges with clearance designation for authorized building access; Provides monthly security training and meetings to ensure educational awareness and compliance; Receives requests for security clearances, evaluates the sensitivity classification of the position and recommends approval or rejection of the request; Performs announced and unannounced security inspections; Initiates preliminary inquiries and provide subject matter expertise on security violations/compromises along with reporting requirements and procedures; Advises the commander on the best course of action when derogatory information is reported; Maintains all records; Maintains Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) certification; Verifies Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility, access approval, determines individual's need-to-know and conducts SCI indoctrinations; Performs duties as SCI document control and accountability custodian, and SCI courier.
