Profile bio

About Divya Beri, Phd

A bench scientist by training, I received my PhD from Indian Institute of Science in Biochemistry. My thesis focused on understanding complex metabolic grids in protozoan parasites (Plasmodium and Trichomonas) and linking changes in metabolites to genetic information in the parasite as well as physiological outcomes in its life cycle. Currently as a post-doctoral research fellow at New York Blood Center, NY, USA my research is focused in understanding the growth dynamics of Babesia (a red blood cell parasite dominant in North Eastern USA and parts of Europe) in wildtype vs human sickle cells. Along this journey, I have gained expertise in state-of-the-art techniques such as multi-panel flow cytometry, Agilent's Seahorse technology to measure energy flux in cells. the EXOID Nanopore yo quantify nanoparticles and EVs involved in cellular communication and application of Imagestream (Amnis) and machine-learning-based data analysis to quantitate and differentiate between "sickled" "parasitized" cells from wildtype, uninfected red cells. I have also gained expertise in the field of metabolomics and proteomics, especially with analysis of large datasets. Apart from that, I am well-experienced in application of classical biochemical, molecular, epigenetic and genetic tools to answer a wide variety of biological questions. I enjoy working in a collaborative environment and currently, am looking for opportunities to apply my skill-set to address exciting biological questions, whilst learning new things everyday!

Listed skills include Presentation Skills, Powerpoint, Drug Design, Metabolomics, and 23 others.
