Currently design, develop, and maintain java based applications for the National Eye Institute at NIH. Create a number of new applications using Java 8+, AngularJS (v1-v9), D3js, NodeJS, npm, Javascript, Typescript, REST, Spring framework, MySQL, MSSQL, and Oracle. This includes the creation from scratch of the public facing site neicommons.nei.nih.gov. Also maintain legacy applications that includes production fixes as well as adding new features as needed. There is a complete agile and devops environment with Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Artifactory. All new applications are also maintained and deployed in Azure cloud environment with clustered VMs, PaaS database service, Azure functions, and blob storage. In addition, I work directly with NEI senior leadership to develop requirements and architect solutions that meet their needs, including the creation of detailed work and cost estimations.

Designed, developed, and maintained a custom java-based readiness web application for multiple clients using Java, Spring Framework, Hibernate, JQuery, AJAX, CSS, HTML, Oracle, and WebLogic. This includes creating from scratch a java-based readiness web application for a government client. In addition to software development, also performed Scrum Master duties for the project which included backlog grooming, managing and translating requirements into stories, and setup and running of sprint reviews, retrospectives, and planning.

Designed, developed and maintained key components of the NextDocs software suite using Microsoft .Net and Sharepoint, with a focus on compliance and quality. Developed solutions for all tiers of the application: user interface, middle-tier business components, database layer, etc. Used C# to build solutions both within and on top of Sharepoint, including front-end work with JQuery and javascript as well as database work with NHibernate and SQL Server.

Worked within the Defined Benefits Systems group to develop product enhancements, using Oracle, PLSQL, UNIX, and JAVA, to the Vanguard Pension Administration System. This included front-end work with JAVA using both JBoss and Websphere application servers, as well as back-end work in Oracle, which included database optimization with Oracle, stored procedures in PLSQL, and database design. Also automated processes within IT Department using C#, ANT, and UNIX shell scripting to improve daily operations and save hours in manual processing time. The job functions also incorporated many leadership activities. This included planning, leading a team, and successfully elevating Webtrends functionality to the Vanguard’s Defined Benefits website. Also led a team to convert the version management from Serena Version Manager and ANT to the Subversion, Maven, and Hudson suite.

Developed a user interface and back end using MATLAB, C#, and AGI’s Satellite Toolkit to expedite and simplify the link analysis process, which allowed the scientist to turn a two-week manual process into an hour automated process. Also performed work to help create real-time visualizations for sounding rocket launches by processing telemetry data with C# and AGI Satellite Toolkit. Worked within the Mission Planning Lab team to provide analysis and solve problems with sounding rocket and other small vehicle launches from Wallops Flight Facility.
