The Nehru Centre (TNC) in New Delhi is a unit of Sanket Development Group (SDG), a Bhopal-based organisation that has been working for several years in the areas of education, capacity building, Panchayati Raj and livelihoods. The unit works as a think tank that produces knowledge on history, economics, public policy, sociology and current affairs, using in-depth, fact-based quantitative and qualitative research methods. Our primary focus is to make authentic research and knowledge reach a larger audience through novel, creative, interesting and interactive ways of dissemination.

- Facilitated legal aid and feminist interventions, aiding women survivors with legal resources.- Analyzed roles of Domestic Violence Protection Officers, enhancing understanding of state functions.- Counselled women on legal options, providing support and guidance.- Compiled daily reports on cases, ensuring thorough follow-ups and documentation.

SUTRA works to address concerns such as social violence, land acquisition, child marriages, health, education for females, and declining sex ratios. SUTRA interacts with women leaders of Gram Panchayats and Mahila Mandals in seven districts around Himachal Pradesh through its network of local non-profits.As a TISS student rural fieldworker, I engaged in the following tasks at SUTRA under the guidance of the great Subhash Mendhapurkar: - Recorded rural experiences, enhancing understanding of social work in diverse communities.- Engaged with local women and organizations, fostering collaborative efforts for social movements.- Analyzed women's oppression in rural India, identifying critical sites and dynamics.- Examined gender, caste, class, region, and religion relations, providing comprehensive insights.- Partnered with local NGOs to develop and execute community upliftment programs, fostering collective action and sustainable development.
