Since the inception of Vital eCare,Dr. Baker has worked with the founder, long-time colleague Jeff Lucas, to help advance his concept for virtual collaborative person-centered care, realized through the realignment of information access and health-management responsibility to dramatically improve the health of individuals, healthcare organizations, and our U.S. healthcare system. Vital eCare's cloud-based platform enables real-time data sharing and collaborative care management, removing the many disconnects among healthcare providers, secondary/tertiary care-givers, patients, and families/caregivers. Since 2012, Dr. Dixie Baker has been a Senior Partner at healthcare consulting firm Martin, Blanck and Associates, where she provides consulting services in the areas of health information technology (HIT), electronic health records (EHR) technology, privacy and security technology, and the sharing and protection of genomic and clinical data. Dr. Baker was one of the original members of the US Department of Health and Human Services HIT Standards Committee (HITSC), and during her tenure chaired the HITSC Security Workgroup and the Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN) Power Team that developed metrics for assessing the readiness of technology specifications to become national standards. Dr. Baker has held leadership positions in the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH), the International Rare Disease Research Consortium (IRDRC), and Health Level Seven International (HL7). For four years, she served on the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of the European Genome-Phenome Archive (EGA) and she currently serves on the SAB of the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Department at the University of Southern California.In 2017, Health Data Management named Dr. Baker one of the most “powerful women in health information technology,” specifically in the area of “thought leadership,” and in 2013, healthcareinfosecurity.com selected her as one of its inaugural “Top 10 Influencers in Health Information Security.” Dixie and her husband Jerry enjoy life by the ocean in Redondo Beach, CA USA, with their friendly cat Jack.
