Ahrc Innovation Scholar Intangible Heritage And Design
CurrentTo assist Historic England on the theme of intangible heritage and its relationship to place-shaping, to allow Historic England to better advise partners in ways that enhance all elements of historic character. In particular, the role will focus on understanding the relationship between intangible heritage and places, including the potential for intangible heritage to introduce more diverse and inclusive concepts of the historic environment. Responding to industry agendas, the role will fall predominantly within the remit of Historic England’s National Strategy Team, with connections to national listing, wellbeing and participation agendas. The role will generate knowledge that will help those teams directly shape government’s approaches towards design, place-shaping, and raising capacity sufficiently to enable the successful implementation of proposed reforms. A series of pre-guidance recommendations will be generated as part of this role, which will be subject to a secondary process administered by Historic England, located outside of the secondment scope itself, where the recommendations will be analysed in terms of costs and potential impact ahead of designing actions in response.
