Under the direction of Dr. Gary Hardiman (Director of Bioinformatics) and Dr. Stephen Ethier (Director of Center for Genomics Medicine)FUNCTIONAL TRANSCRIPTOMICS- Collaborated with cancer biologists and computational genomics specialists partnered with the NCI Cancer System Biology Consortium to combine multi-omic breast cancer datasets (internal and external), including functional cellular screens (shRNA, drug screening) with genomic information (exome, RNAseq, etc), for predictive modeling and enhanced patient stratification - Performed meta-analysis, visualization, and interpretation of internal and external "-omics" datasets of in vitro, in vivo, and patient cardiac disease (RNAseq, microarray, public datasets)- "Humanized" animal cardiac injury model using systems-level approach and functional genomics tools (Bioconductor, R, Python)- Collaborated with bioinformaticians and biologists to develop a method for systems biology-level characterization of de novo transcriptomes applied to dietary fish species for environmental toxicology

Worked on a project with graduate students Ying Li and Mohammed Islam in Dr. Cai's in the Biomedical Engineering Department on POU3f2 gene regulation in chick retina using in ovo electroporation techniques. At the end of the summer a presentation and poster seminar were held displaying our research. Following, a full paper and poster was created from this research for my Senior Seminar (BIO-075) at Furman University.
