I worked on the project Anthropogenic Earthquakes: How strong will they be? In fact, earthquakes induced by injections of fluid into the subsurface increasingly threaten people, infrastructure and the energy sector. Although most human-induced earthquakes are small, they can have disproportionate impacts in regions unaccustomed to tectonic activity. Estimating and forecasting the largest magnitude likely to be observed during fluid injections is a critical but difficult challenge. This project aimed to develop a method based on Extreme Value Theory (EVT) to estimate the largest possible magnitudes of earthquakes in multiple fluid-injectionoperations.

My assignments were, but not limited to, to assist the director within the academic program bycoordinating the work of tutors:• Organize lecturer evaluations, aggregation and reporting.• Organize, chair and ensure that minutes are taken during academic meetings with tutors team and visiting lecturers.• Coordinate and administrate the timetable.• Keep student records.• Organize and coordinate seminars and talks.

My assignments were, but not limited to, tutoring of 54 African Master students in mathematics, statistics and scientific computing as follows:• Focus on the personal development of students skills and knowledge and lead weeklytutorials such as scientific programming in Python, R, SageMaths, Scilab.• Organised and lead group and individual tutorial to improve scientific knowledge as well asteam-working and problem-solving skills of students.• Contribute to the assessment of student performance on a continuous basis, in preparingadditional materials and examples as needed.• Evaluate homework, tests, and field work and hold office hours to ensure studentsunderstood course concepts.• This challenging experience also requires me to provide general assistance to the director andthe lecturers with the lessons.

I worked on a project of Machine Learning for Predictive Modelling Problems. Specifically, this opportunity allowed me to contribute to a project on Survival Modelling as Predictive Modelling. In a theoretical way I explored a plausible way for benchmarking survival analysis models. The project involved also some practical data analysis, predictive modelling and model selection in the domain application of health and prevention.
