Auditing of Capital Markets, Risk Management, Treasury, and other Bank functions. As lead auditor, planned all aspects of an audit. This required researching the department to be investigated, setting the scope for the audit, developing tests for all risks and controls, assigning tasks to auditors, educating the auditors in their assigned tasks, participating in performance of audit tests, suggesting avenues for investigation as the audit develops, working on issues and action plans with audit clients, and writing a final report for the client, the Audit Committee, and other interested parties including regulators.DEVELOPED and IMPLEMENTED new auditing procedures and methodologies, which allowed RBC’s Internal Audit department to review unfamiliar and fast-changing Risk Management processes. Ensured that staff with necessary technical expertise were available to recommend new directions to audit clients, based on current industry expectations. Pioneered an approach whereby external consultants were hired to bring necessary expertise to audits in areas where Internal Audit lacked experience. Internal expertise was developed through interaction with consultants, and audit programs were enhanced to reflect this knowledge.
