I was hired as a contractor to help rebrand the park and redesign all of the signage in Central Park. I helped organize and design signs across the park and also designed various graphics for the Communications Department of the Central Park Conservancy. I shot and edited photos and video for the Conservancy's website: centralparknyc.org.

As a duPont Fellow I helped prepare for the prestigious Broadcast Journalism prizes awarded at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. I helped redesign the duPont Awards Web site, and I also helped compile and organize all award entries for the 2010 awards.

I worked as a reporter for the local newspaper in Abilene, Tex. I covered everything from high school football and rodeos to school board meetings and fatal car accidents. I freelanced for several years on the weekends during college and worked many Friday nights covering high school football on the sports desk.

I was the Editor-in-Chief of the JMC Network, the student media operation at Abilene Christian University. I was in charge of the print, broadcast and radio media produced by the students in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the nationally accredited university. Although ACU is a smaller christian college with less funding than most journalism programs in Texas, under my leadership the Optimist won several awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association. I was also the first Editor-in-Chief placed in charge of a state-of-the-art converged media newsroom that combined print, broadcast and multimedia working spaces into one cohesive news agency.

While attending The Fund for American Studies Institute on Political Journalism at Georgetown University I worked as a summer intern at Street Sense, a non-profit newspaper that covers homelessness in the Washington, D.C. area. In that position I wrote in-depth stories about homelessness. I also designed half of the newspaper and shot and edited video for the publication. I was awarded the John Chamberlain award for Excellence in Print Journalism for my work during this summer program.
