Used long template PCR, quantitative RT-PCR (qPCR), metagenomic DNA, and other molecular biology techniques. Characterized the effect of substrate alignment on bacterial behavior, competition, and survival. Investigated the nature of M. xanthus' motility apparatus and how it interacts with its environment.
