Since I majored in architecture, for a long time I thought that my design style embodies the famous quote by Mies van der Rohe: Less is more. But now I must agree with Milton Glaser’s alternative version: Just enough is more!My advantage with architectural background lies I think in the constant strugle to represent something spatial in two dimensions. Architectural drawing needs to be practical so we can connect it to the real world and imagine it, and on the other hand, abstract and apealing to the eye so we can project ourselves onto it, and interpret it individually. Many buildings or incomplete projects are percieved and exist just through their drawings so I am deeply intrigued and fascinated by the means of visual expression.Line art is something I am comfortable with and I like to experiment with shapes, negative space and colors not in order to decieve the eye, but in order to show more so that it becomes the organ that sees, not just looks. When I design I start from the most basic thing, an idea, and develop it further by trying to find the medium through which this idea will reveal itslef the best: be it drawing, illustration, painting, photograph or something else. So the style really becomes irrelevant, in fact, it just serves the idea.
