Created Trainline’s first product oriented, cross-functional development group to deliver and own applications from conception through to operations. Starting with four engineers, I recruited and developed the web capability into a six squad tribe of over 50 cross-disciplined engineers and analysts.Lead the change in ways-of-working to radically improve delivery agility from six-week platform release to on-demand component releases - removing the build-run organizational boundary and implementing DevOps principles of high-automation and high team autonomy. Introduced NewRelic and built dashboards to provide teams a constant link to customer impact in both business development (OKRs) and operational fitness.Lead the incremental replacement of the legacy ASP.Net websites with a complete re-write into React and Node single page-applications. Worked closely with platform architects to enable a successful migration of the web components to AWS and then adapt them to the company-wide re-platforming to Event Driven Architecture, whilst maintaining throughput of new customer features.Lead continuous improvement activities to hone team’s agile processes (SCRUM or Kanban) to best address the prevailing character of the work and constraints.

Lead implementation of many projects across; customer accounts, market operations, market management and exchange bet matching areas.4-years of successfully leading Agile projects using SCRUM / XP principles - qualified SCRUM Master (CSM). Technical ownership of several significant SOA system components (JAVA) supporting the betting exchange including related data-stores (Oracle) and desktop admin consoles (C#). Ensured their long term sustainability through continuous delivery, test automation, code reviews and operational fitness.Provided teams with significant technical and business process design guidance. Line managed up to 14 staff (developers, QA and a junior manager) - successfully recruited, performance managed and re-built teams.Enjoyed close collaboration with product owners, programme managers and operational users.

Designed and led implementation of GF-X Host-to-Host search and book product.Technical owner of the event-driven integration components for connectivity to client airlines and forwarders - including substantial hands-on development (C++ and MQ Series) and on-call support.Managed revision of web-platform adopting the Spring framework (IoC and MVC) and Hibernate into the JAVA stack.
