I am a senior Computer Science Major at The University of Rhode Island. I began developing games in my free time to enhance my programming skills, improve my grades, and allow me to better perform as a teacher's assistant. These projects turned into a genuine curiosity for graphics programming and game development as I began learning more advanced topics in C++ by programming a small 2d game engine using SDL. I was later able to program a full game as part of a group project in one of my Computer Science courses. It was a 2d game called "Space Adventures" programmed in Java that we based on certain aspects of both "Asteroid" and "Space Invaders". After that semester, I decided to re-use the small 2d engine I had made in C++ to recreate "Space Adventures" and further develop my C++ skills. These projects led to an interest in the rendering process as I had relied on AWT and SDL to do the heavy lifting.I am now studying OpenGL, linear algebra, and the rendering pipeline in order to better understand how the rendering process works. I would love to have the opportunity to work with and learn from other software developers that contribute to professional game engines.
