Co-inventor for a powerful luminogenic detection technology that has been widely used in pharmaceutical companies to assay important enzymes such as cytochrome P450s. It was based upon a dual-enzyme detection system that makes use of luminogenic compounds (luciferin derivatives). The target enzyme acts on luminogenic compounds releasing luciferin, which in turn is up-taken by luciferase to generate bioluminescence for quantification. A series of luminogenic compounds were designed, synthesized, purified, and successfully commercialized as bioluminescent assay kits for drug discovery.
