Achieved progressively increasing levels of responsibility and decision-making authority in the oilfield chemicals division (FLO® Drag Reducing Agent business unit). Drag reducers are ultra-high molecular weight PE additives used in crude, aqueous and refined fuels pipelines, to allow for increased throughput and/or reduced power costs. Oversaw all sales support functions ($2MM budget, 10-12 people), comprising the new product development, product management, and equipment production areas. • Responded to customer quality concerns by launching an initiative to generate “no harms” information for FLO® additives, when used in crude oil and refined products. Summary rolled out to Sales and presented at several external industry and customer meetings, leading to improved external technical credibility and product development efforts. • Performed market segmentation and competitive analysis, to clarify market needs and trends. Results used to justify the development and commercialization of three new products. On-going sales of $15MM/yr. • Drove team execution in developing a product with a 15% lower cost and equal performance to incumbent, which was no longer competitive in high volume/low margin accounts. Positive profit impact of $600k/yr since commercialization ($6MM/yr revenue).• Led effort to determine best plan to minimize impact of an uncompetitive product family, involving $4MM of existing inventory and $2.5MM/yr of fixed costs. Recommendations allowed for recovery and sale of 60% of the inventory, along with new product development and pricing strategies to minimize the fixed cost impact.

Decided to outsource certain jobs, while maintaining internal capability for the more specialized, differentiating work. Result was an increased capability and improved customer service, at no additional cost. Led effort to develop a new injection pump skid design to allow for conversion of an underutilized, fully depreciated skid into a high demand skid.
