About Derek Smith

I have worked in software development for 26 years and am currently the Head of Corporate Systems Development at Future PLC.I manage four teams of developers- Editorial Systems, an in-house team of Java developers who create the Digital Asset Management systems which power our magazine production. We have 20 million digital assets and now leverage Machine Learning from Google and AWS to make them more discoverable.- Internal Systems, an in-house team of NetSuite developers who customise our joint ERP and CRM systems, including interfaces to Google Ad Manager and Salesforce - FP&A Tech, an in-house team of IBM Planning Analytics developers who produce all of our Management Accounts reporting- GoCo Email Tech, an in-house team of Salesforce Marketing Could developers who produce all the email marketing for GoCompare and associated brandsI also design and manage our Oracle database in AWS RDS which powers all of our corporate applications.I have a background in Java development, leading the creation of a large bespoke magazine production system.I have a passion to drive productivity by utilising Agile methodology.
