Djuradj Stakic received his B.S. in Psychology (1971), and his Ph.D. in Special Education (1980) from University of Belgrade, Serbia.Dr. Stakic has long, reach and diverse experience as a clinician, teacher and researcher in the broad area of developmental-clinical psychology, juvenile justice, mental health and social work, all focused on empowering children, youth, families and communities.Dr. Stakic is licensed clinical psychologist, Diplomat of American Academy of Forensic Examiners, Senior International UNICEF Expert and Fulbright Academy of Science and Technology member. Dr. Stakic has thought (1975 – 1997) at the University of Belgrade schools of special Education, Social Work. He used to serve as a department chair and vise-dean of the School of Special Education. Dr. Stakic is currently (from 2000) professor and Human Development and Family Studies Program coordinator at the Penn State University. He serves (from 2002) as a Program Director (Social Work and Clinical Interventions) at the Independent International University Center for Postgraduate Study, Dubrovnik, Croatia. Dr. Stakic’s research interest focuses on positive youth development, positive juvenile justice and social welfare interventions aiming to empower children, youth, families and communities around the globe in particularly in countries in democratic transition of South East Europe, South Central Asia and Arab States.Dr. Stakic has published more than ninety scholar works including 12 books, 9 book chapters and over 70 journal articles.Dr. Stakic is recipient of two Fulbright scholar program awards, two awards for “Significant Contribution to Theory and Practice of Special Education” (University of Belgrade), Annual Penn State University Award for Distinguished Outreach/Service (2005) and Faculty Research Program Award (2013).
