When I was a little kid, I wanted to direct horror movies. Seeing Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street had me convinced I was destined to make the creatures from my head appear on the big screen. While watching horror movies is still an experience that leaves me glued to the edge of my seat, I no longer desire to be in the director's chair. I learned that my love for seeing the impossible happen on the silver screen was really driven by the hard work and hours put in by the editing and VFX departments. Enter the Adobe Creative Suite.In high school, I got my first copy of After Effects and Premiere CS5. Good bye social life. Not long after, I discovered Red Giant and Video Copilot. Seth Worley and Andrew Kramer became my new mentors and teachers. I had to know how to recreate the shots I was seeing in some of my favorite movies. Through the use of products from these 2 companies, I immersed myself in the world of motion graphics. Dynamics simulations, particles, texturing, lighting, and animation filled all my free time and occupied whatever vacancy was in my brain. After Effects expressions became the language I spoke in. I day dreamed about ways to get volumetric lighting to shine through text layers with sub-surface scattering in Element 3D. I was a kid in a candy store. 10 years and 100s of YouTube tutorials later, I am still enamored with the process of getting things from my imagination onto an After Effects and Premiere timeline. I've picked up a couple new skills along the way, such as utilizing 3D suites like Cinema 4D, Maya and Blender. Render engines such as Arnold, Redshift and Eevee have also made their way into my arsenal. When people decide to work with me, they get more than just another Motion Graphics Designer and Editor who has memorized the workflow and effects available in Adobe CC. They get that little kid who never lost touch with the vast capabilities that a practiced imagination can provide.
