I contributed an essay to Midlife, a sharp, moving, and uniquely Canadian book about reaching middle age in 2021, by 27 friends who met at the Gateway, the student newspaper at the University of Alberta.

Post Arcade

After the exit of Matt Hartley, I became the sole editor of Post Arcade. This meant more assigning and a bit less writing.

• I am one of the main news editors at nationalpost.com. My duties include:
• Making story choices for display on the site including the front page
• Selling our stories on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and other social media
• Determining the ROI of new social media tools for our newsroom
• Editing copy from our writers and the wire
• Writing copy as needed for the site, especially science stories

With the expansion of the National Post's video-game coverage with Post Arcade, I became one of two primary columnists and reviewers for the channel. I write the weekly "Download Code" column in addition to reviewing many of the games for the site and submitting news stories.Additionally, I've liveblogged every E3 press conference since 2010.

Before the launch of the National Post's video-game hub "Post Arcade" I coordinated the Post's video-game coverage. With the launch of Post Arcade, my duties were spread among more people and I do more writing.

Basically the same as the job as the "News Editor" job, but I got a fancy new title in June 2011 with more seniority.

Did the duties of a copy editor as listed below for the first four hours of my shift. Did the duties of a web producer the last three and a half.

• Copy edited and laid out pages for the paper's A section.
• Wrote headlines on deadline.
• Extensive use of the Adobe CS2 Suite, primarily InDesign CS2.
