I currently hold the position of Principal Researcher (grade B) in the Information Technologies Institute (ITI) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH).My area of expertise lies on intelligent software systems and algorithms. I work in various research and innovation projects on topics such as: software optimization for low energy computing applications, high performance computing architectures (e.g. exascale computing), time-series anlysis and forecasting by use of deep learning or spatiotemporal models, intelligent transport systems (ITS), cooperative ITS, augmented and virtual reality. I graduated in 1999 from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), and I was a founding member of the Intelligent Systems & Software Engineering Labgroup of AUTH, where I did my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Pericles Mitkas. After receiving my PhD (2006), I worked at CERTH/ITI, as a senior research associate, in the research group led by Dr. Dimitrios Tzovaras (currently president of CERTH). In 2016 I was elected associate researcher (grade C) in CERTH/ITI. I was promoted to the position of Principal Research in October 2020.In the past I have also worked as an adjunct lecturer for two universities in Greece, AUTH (2007-8) and DUTH (Democritus University of Thrace, 2008-9). I was also faculty member of the MSc course in Web Science (2011-13), and the MSc course in Complex Systems and Networks (2014-2016), both organized by AUTH-Department of Mathematics.
