Whether it be about politics, music, or any topic that grabs his attention, Derik Knak is who most people would consider a dedicated writer. With a voracious appetite for gathering and repackaging data or information, he seeks to craft stories with a purpose: getting readers to think and draw conclusions, but also check out that album he's played nonstop recently.A native of northern California, Derik discovered his passion for storytelling upon joining his high school's yearbook crew. In yearbook, he contributed sports photography and assisted in managing the team's vast database of files, as well as maintaining equipment. Currently, he is studying journalism, political science, and Mandarin Chinese at the University of Nevada in Reno. When he's not tackling assignments, Derik contributes album reviews to the university's student-run radio station Wolf Pack Radio. To further increase his understanding of the world and create lifelong connections, he is a member of the university's Chinese Language and Culture Club, as well as the University of Nevada Model United Nations branch.After school, Derik would like to attend law school and pursue either a career in law or journalism.In his writing, Derik puts interpretation and impact at the forefront of his focus. He incorporates the moods and convictions that embody all sides of the story, as well as supplying a voice to the voiceless by any means necessary.
