My focus is on resolving the complexity that lives at the interface of disciplines. I study the interactions between policy, society, the markets, and research. Only by understanding details of systems can we identify the impactful interventions that result in persistent change without unintended externalities. To this end my current projects (Aug. 2024) are on assisting electricity companies to understand the evolving landscape of policy and technology, and on mapping the sociotechnical system for low-carbon (pink, green, white) hydrogen and ammonia. Previously, my career centered around trading power and unlocking investment in renewable assets. Leveraging expertise in the financial power markets, I led a team to develop software for maximizing capital efficiency of renewables and battery storage.Academically, I obtained a PhD in Statistics for work on machine learning theory. My particular emphasis was two fold: high-dimensional optimization, and modeling under uncertainty. I also received an Executive MBA from the University of Oxford where my particular focus was on innovation and international development.Finally, I'm interested in financial investing for philanthropic efforts. I believe there is insufficient venture philanthropy and private equity-style investments from charitable organizations in for-profit companies trying to do good.
