Temporary relief operator for ammonia plant turnaround and vacation coverage (7Months1Week)Work Tasks included:•Daily operation of four demineralization packed bed exchangers and three mixed bed units•Water sampling, monitoring of water chemistry and adjusting feeds to maintain chemicals within proper ranges •Daily rounds of boiler feed water pumps, deaerators and chemical injection pumps•Maintaining shift logs and completing regular checklist activities•Managing permits and ensuring safe work for contractors within my area •Reporting to and consulting with my supervisor to determine the best practices for the demineralization plant•Trouble shooting abnormal operation situations and completing or recommending corrective action•Chemical truck offloads (adhering to TDG regulations)•Writing clear and concise work requests for maintenance staff

Kearl Lake Oilsands

3rd class steam time summer position working at Kearl Lake OilsandsWork tasks included:•Daily water testing, monitoring clarifiers, gravity filters, demineralization trains and chemical dosing recommendations within the water treatment plant •Completed daily rounds and weekly preventative maintenance on four 6750 kPa steam generating boilers, a largecogeneration turbine, instrument and utility air distribution systems, natural gas heating and distribution systems•Chemical truck offloads (adhering to TDG regulations) •Daily exposure to permitting, job safety analysis and Lock-Out-Tag-Out •Actively participated in career development training and safety meetings •Gained experience and knowledge of the plant’s process through the studying of P&IDs and DCS logic •Participated in safety audits of the plant footprint to detect and correct possible safety concerns
