Worked on to understand and forecasting the marine layer stratocumulous clouds to improve the solar energy forecasting over southern California using Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) modelling framework. Additionally to develop a data assimilation frame work by using the conventional in-situ observations and remote sensing observations towards the improved forecasting of marine layer stratocumulous over San Diego coast.

Worked with Numerical Weather Prediction group to understand and improve the forecast for BIMSTEC countries. Most of the BIMSTEC countries are sharing their long coastlines with Bay of Bengal (BoB) and most of their weather patterns were directly affected by BoB. It was very challenging to understand their weather patterns and give a reasonably accurate forecast for BIMSTEC countries, because of the data sparse regions over BoB. First time we initiated with Observing System Simulation Experiments (OSSE) over BoB and BIMSTEC countries to understand the impact of additional weather observations to improve the forecast for BIMSTEC countries.
