Sourcing for Wal-Mart, JC Penny, Kmart/Sears, BonTon, Jones Apparel, Knights Apparel, Ivory Trends, Kohls, Land & Sea and many others). Being a social compliance manager/consultant, I was responsible to make sure that all suppliers/factories are complying with buyers’ social compliance requirement. I have conducted around 400 social compliance audits at all our suppliers’ facilities and worked with them to improve working conditions and workers' rights at workplaces. I also participated in third party (ITS, BV, SGS, Moody, Accordia, STR and RINA) audits as a silent observer on behalf of sourcing company/Deltex. During social compliance audits, I have conducted interviews of around 4000 labourers/workers working in different factories in Pakistan and asked their problems and issues with factories management related to their legal rights. I found hundreds of them were having wages, overtime payment, leaves and other legal benefits issues. I convinced the factories' management to respect the legal rights of workers and pay their wages, overtime and other benefits as they deserve. During my professional work I have learned that it is not only a job to earn money for myself but to improve working condition and society as whole.
