    Computational simulations were used in conjunction with UV-visible and Extended Absorption Fine-Structure Spectroscopy (EXAFS) to probe the mechanism of a lipid-mediated ferriheme detoxification process in the malaria parasite and its inhibition by antimalarial drugs. Findings were published in CrystEngComm, Dalton Transactions and Langmuir.During this period I formally co-supervised a MSc student student on a project which investigated the peroxidative toxicity of ferriheme and its complexes with antimalarial drugs. The student received her MSc cum laude.
