Same employer (throughout spin-offs, mergers, and acquisitions) was known over time as LSI, Agere, Lucent Technologies, and AT&T Bell Laboratories.Designed, optimized, and supported software development and debug tools critical to selling millions of embedded DSPs and µCs for cellular terminals and base stations. Using our ICs and software tools, companies like Samsung and Nokia designed phones and cell towers. They do not buy chips without great tools!GUI debugger, on Linux and Windows, simulates core or full SOC using C++ models, or controls embedded target across TCP/IP via RPC proxy. RPC server accesses on-chip debug logic and BDM ROM across serial JTAG via Windows device driver. I worked extensively on each of these components.Models, debugger, and driver in C++. GUI and scripts in Tcl/Tk. JTAG control in Forth. Various tools in Java. Source control via Sablime/SCCS, then Subversion. Build and test using various shells. Most days I used multiple languages in tandem.First hired for my networking expertise, to port OEM debugger to new µC. Distributed debugger hosted on Windows or UNIX, networked to Windows server accessing embedded target. Next worked on DSP simulation modeling for hardware/software co-verification. Switched to hardware support, and device driver optimization. Eventually supported whole package. Along the way, produced user documentation, conducted training, optimized build and test, and coordinated off-shore development.
