Engineering Manager Ii - Royalties And Reporting

Stockholm, Stockholm County, Se

As an Engineering Manager II at Spotify, I led teams in Financial Engineering, Royalties and Reporting, which are responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payments to artists, labels, and publishers, as well as providing insights and analytics on the performance and profitability of Spotify's content. I oversaw the design, development, and maintenance of various applications and systems that handle large volumes of data and complex calculations. While managing ten direct reports, I fostered a culture of inclusion and psychological safety in order to produce a diverse, cohesive, effective team, who could learn and challenge each other. I'm passionate about talent enablement, working closely with each direct report to set and achieve their personal career goals, including using mentoring, training, and embed opportunities as well as sponsoring several successful promotions to senior engineer. I also worked closely with HR to screen and evaluate technical candidates as well as developed and enforced cultural standards to ensure team fitness.During my tenure at Spotify, my team and I have completely redesigned the suite of microservices powering our claim management process for publishing royalties. This system is responsible for the fetching, tracking, extraction, parsing, and validation of technical files exchanged over sFTP with our licensing partners. The parsed claim file data is then fed into data pipelines used to calculate the monthly royalties owed to the publishing rights holders based on the trillions of track plays by our listeners in over 180 markets worldwide. Our improvements reduced the processing time for each file while greatly increasing the volume of files processed at the same time during peak file delivery. We also directly reduced our cloud computing and storage costs by tens of thousands per month, while also reducing our overall system maintenance costs using fleet management techniques, automated risk testing and SOX compliance auditing.
