I interned in the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Regulatory (EHSR) department at Noble in summer 2017.My internship duties included:- Learning in detail about oil and gas upstream processes, including reservoir engineering, drilling and completions, hydraulic fracturing, and upstream crude oil processing.- Learning about approved facility leak detection and repair (LDAR) methodology, including the operation of infra-red optical gas imaging cameras to inspect facility equipment for leaks. I gained a depth of knowledge of environmental issues in upstream oil and gas processes, primarily focusing on the problem of ground-level ozone formation resulting from hydrocarbon emissions and the resulting federal and state emission regulations.- Review of proposed changes to Regulation 7, which addresses the reduction of hydrocarbon emissions in upstream processes, in order to analyze the potential impact to Noble's LDAR inspection schedules- Creativity in analyzing existing data to advise future state-wide regulation- Quantifying the comparative environmental impact of gas-driven vehicles and fugitive emissions in order to determine whether or not proposed regulatory changes would reduce ozone formation

I worked with a project team to design and develop a point-of-sale payment web application marketed toward municipal and county governments. We developed the application using the Oracle DBMS, Microsoft .NET, ASP.NET, and the Ext JS application framework. I also developed plugins that enabled integration of external systems into the web application.I was the primary developer for application enhancements and bug fixes to a comprehensive property taxing and billing software owned by Hamilton County, Indiana. Technical development primarily involved the Oracle DBMS and Microsoft .NET. To fulfill my responsibilities, I utilized and developed skills in Oracle database management and design, software performance enhancements, and customer support. As the software was required to meet state-legislated tax law, I gained experience performing business analysis and understanding property tax cycles from initial property assessment to settlement of collections.
