Assigned project to conduct cell staining and operate cytology centrifuge equipment (Cell-CT) for 3D single-cell microimaging to quantify nuclear morphometric transformation in cancer. In particular, breast cancer remains the most common cancer in women and cancerous cell typically has an enlarged nucleus, nuclear invaginations, chromosome mutations, and unique nuclear shape changes. Presented on tested methods for an imaging informatics framework to quantify nuclear pleomorphism by statistical characterization of 3D nuclear shape on normal and cancerous epithelial cell derived from human esophagus and breast. Analyzed cell images to assess variations in nuclear shape, the molecular biosignature of cancer.In 2009, the Center for Ecogenomics received the first Cell-CT instrument that employs patented computed tomographic (CT) scanning methods to generate high-resolution 3D images of individual cells, allowing precise measurement of cellular anatomy and molecular markers important for understanding and identifying the earliest stages of disease.The Center for Biosignatures Discovery Automation is focused on developing sensing and imaging devices and other instruments to gain knowledge of the biological, chemical and physical cellular environments as well as an understanding of cell proliferation and cell death and their impact on cancer, stroke and cardiovascular disease.The Biodesign Institute represents the largest investment in bioscience research under one roof in the state of Arizona. It is focused on innovations for improving health care, providing renewable sources of energy, mitigating environmental contamination and outpacing infectious diseases.
