During this internship I characterized the performances and clinical applicability of a Cerenkov Luminescence Specimen Analyser for intra- operative tumour margin detection in breast cancer. The performance characteristics, e.g. sensitivity, penetration depth and spatial resolution were studied using a phantom that mimics the optical properties of human breast tissue.

An anatomical-based phantom was designed to be able to determine the optimal reconstruction algorithm of the 68-Gallium-Exendin-4 PET/CT and 111-Indium-Exendin-4 SPECT/CT study in Diabetes Mellitus research.The aim of this project was to develop a phantom that fulfilled the radiation safety rules and was a true representation of the pancreas and kidneys.

The study tour was a scientific tour of the studies Biomedical Engineering and Technical Medicine. It is an initiative of study association S.V. Paradoks of the University of Twente. The tour took place in September and October 2011 and the places to visit were Malaysia and Singapore.I was one of the members of the committee that organized this study tour. We set up a research project and therefore visited universities, research institutes, hospitals and companies in both lands. In this committee I arranged the travel schedule and performed the public relations.
