Owned data ingress on Heap's capture team, owning large portions of our JavaScript snippet and a primary pipeline in our data collection infrastructure. Amongst other projects, I was responsible for migrating our collection code to handle third-party cookies, adding support for new text and object selection code in our snippet (e.g., "text in nearest element"), writing replay capabilities for our collectors, and scaling up our collector capabilities several magnitudes as we scaled during early COVID.In early 2021, I started Heap's growth team and acted as its first manager to improve Heap's self-serve revenue—we focused on pricing, payments, self-serve, and marketing. We grew PLG-sourced revenue several-fold with our engineering and product efforts. Throughout this experience, some things about working as an engineer at Heap got worse, which is why...In late 2021, I started Heap's first developer experience team to focus on our internal engineering infrastructure and enablement with a fellow engineer. Before this, builds were flaking constantly, getting a development environment provisioned could take more than a week, and in general getting any work done quickly was an uphill battle. From the time we started to when I left to start Champify, we cut average CI build times by more than half, created a consistent process to keep dependencies up to date and quickly address key vulnerabilities, built internal tools to simplify dev environment setup, onboarding, and debugging, and made many, many other improvements.

As the business grows, we help scale it on the engineering side, and when the time comes, we help transition to a fully in-house engineering team. Our focus is on web, iOS, and Android applications.

Smart Price was a mobile point-of-sale and administrative app for trade businesses. Business administrators used the web app to manage product pricing, technicians, and accounting (QuickBooks integration, etc.). Service technicians used our mobile apps to generate invoices and estimates, document work, and charge customers for completed work.I led product and technical direction, in addition to more hands-on programming (writing the iOS and Android apps).Smart Price was acquired by ProfitRhino in 2019.
