•Worked in the manufacturing of composite materials by extrusion and injection molding of different carbon fillers (carbon black, synthetic graphite, and multi-walled carbon nanotubes) in a polymer matrix for applications as fuel cell bipolar plates.•Evaluated thermal conductivity and specific heat of the polypropylene-based composites using the Flash method based on ASTM Standard E-1461.•Tensile and flexural properties of the composite materials produced in this project were measured following the ASTM Standards D-638 and D-790.•Mathematical models were used to estimate and predict the experimental results obtained from thermal and mechanical characterization of the composite materials produced in this project.•New problem modules were created as supplementary material for textbooks used in the Chemical Engineering courses, to introduce undergraduate and graduate students to fundamentals in fuel cells and hydrogen technologies.

•Mastered Corel Draw computer software to design visual aids for manufacturing of cable assemblies and wire harnesses that follow the specifications required by the customer.
