Working with Tier 1 banks and small film and television production companies, I’ve been a lead player in the business world’s transition to an analytics-based, data-driven paradigm...but you need more than numbers, you need sound judgment. Analytics are a powerful tool, but very often misunderstood, and nearly as often misused. Planning and strategizing for Risk means focusing on downsides and how to avoid them, how to pick your spots and make the right moves at the right time. Mitigating risk isn’t the only way to succeed, but in down-times or where margins are razor thin, there is less room for error so wise decision-making is paramount. My career in finance spans 20+ years, a career of great challenge and learning, but I won’t be defined by that: I’m more than the sum total of my workplace achievements. Sure I’m proud of all that I’ve done, but it’s the relationships I’ve fostered, the hard-earned reputation for dependability and the ability to cut through the noise, to distill a problem to its essence and focus on straight-line solutions that will define my career, if not entirely my person. And for that we’ll have to meet, where you’ll find out for yourself. I think you’ll be glad you did.
