As a climate scientist, I study the physics, dynamics, and impacts of the Earth’s changing climate system. My research focuses on how global warming is affecting the character and causes of regional climate extremes—including the atmospheric phenomena responsible for droughts and floods. In my role as a scientist-communicator, I engage in extensive science communication and outreach activities--working with journalists and other partners to facilitate scientifically informed yet accessible media coverage surrounding extreme weather and climate change. I also occasionally provide expert perspectives and consulting services in both the public and private sectors.
