Hired to improve development processes and bring more DevOps automation to a group of 25 developers. Quickly took on additional duties including primary responsibility for the mission-critical MariaDB cluster, ownership of multiple large data aggregation and reporting jobs, and management of the largest team in the department.

I managed a small group of exceptional developers who create and maintain operational support systems for the GIN (Global IP Network) business unit. I lead efforts resulting in software as a service sales to other NTT affiliated companies, transforming the new department from a cost center to profit center (revenue of $1.4M per year). The initial project for this effort was completed on schedule and 33% under budget. The department was created for me as a result of a reorganization designed to bring the software development team closer to internal business users.

Responsible for development and maintenance of various internal and external systems including the Verio IP Address Registry (email, whois, rwhois, and web interfaces) and our internal customer tracking system.

Daily duties included perl CGI programming for the customer care and billing system along with creation and maintenance of a custom system for tracking call-center statistics on a per-agent basis. Additional duties include custom reporting for different departments (business sales, marketing, customer service/new sales), general Oracle DBA work, and system administration for the 10+ billing systems.

Oversaw a group of fifty dial-up technical support representatives. Duties included handling difficult calls (and helping representatives resolve difficult issues), alerting the Network Staff of network outages, and helping to diagnose and fix Network issues. Additional responsibilities included employee reviews, training, and disciplinary action.
