Placed in the R&D team working on a UKRI grant funded project in collaboration with University of Manchester to develop and run software on ARM's new experimental Morello hardware. Tasks in this role included: - Migrated team’s website from Gatsby to Next.js while doing minor corrections on the CSS and Typescript code- Migrating internal service platforms from java 11 to java 17, resulting in reduced bloating due to reduced dependencies requirement and to ensure continued support from Oracle- Experimented and evaluated feasibility of implementing OpenJDK CRaC (Coordinated Restore at Checkpoint) on internal platforms. Function evaluated was CRaC's ability to create checkpoints for running processes and resuming them at the same machine and at different machines- Using automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible and Github Actions for various tasks such as creating new virtual machines for tests, building a different flavour of the JDK and to automate tests via git pushes- Research into compiling the LLVM compiler with eBPF and Morello support to compile internal software to be able to run on the Morello hardware- Netbooting Morello-compatible Linux via DHCP/TFTP file transfer and scripting said process to netboot into said Morello hardware in a remote location
