Within Praktis I am responsible for delivering new business and managing our existing clients. In partnership with Oracle and BT we won a major contract to deliver a fully managed service to the NHS worth £1.2 million. NHS Professionals tendered for a National Finance Centre to consolidate all their UK regions on one financial system based in Leeds. We were successful in being awarded this very challenging major project. Praktis tendered for a local government project to implement Oracle iProcurement for Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council. Competing against four other companies we were selected as the Oracle partner to deliver this project which we are just completing on-time and within budget. We are currently completing this project in conjunction with Lloyds TSB Vantage the supplier of e-Marketplace for online supplier catalogues.Developed and ran workshops for Reed Business Information Group to build and validate a new set of business process and technical solution maps to ensure they achieved the full benefits from the upgrade of their Oracle technology and business applications.Recruited and managed a team of Oracle DBA’s and Developers for City of London Telecom (COLT) to develop, implement and test their billing system. This was successfully completed on time and within budget and the on-going management and hosting of this system was then outsourced to India. A small number of our team remain in their offices in London to ensure that any further developments are fit for purpose and perform to service level requirements.

Managed an EMEA based team of over 200 people from Cisco’s Professional Services and Partners such as, IBM, CGE&Y, HP and KPMG. Successfully engaged our partners within EMEA to secure large and complex projects for companies such as BT, Italtel, France Telecom, Vodafone, One-2-One and Telefonica. Developed an infrastructure that enabled Cisco to scale their business via a network of partners who can assist in the delivery of fixed and mobile Internet solutions such as IP-Billing, Wireless, Call Center, Dialler Offload and E-Business applications.

I formed this company with a colleague from Oracle to build and deploy secure e-business systems for two major banks; Barclays and Beneficial. We were awarded a major £2 million project with Oracle and Barclays to implement an e-commerce system for securing credit card transactions over the internet. This system was one of the first secure payment mechanisms to be introduced on the internet and endorsed by Barclays Merchant Services to enable their customers to trade over the world-wide-web. We also set up a secure interactive web site for Beneficial Bank plc to provide online banking services for new and existing customers. This was the first internet site to allow the online processing of credit card applications offered by their 90 affinity partners such as, the Institute of Directors, SKY Broadcasting, American Airlines and Open University.

Reporting to the Director of Support Sales I managed the relationship between Oracle and its top thirty major public and private sector clients which included, BA, Rank Xerox, BT, Vodafone, MOD, Inland Revenue and British Gas. All these organisations use Oracle products and services to run their vitally important business processes and account for the top 20% of Oracle UK’s revenue. This role involved communicating and negotiating with Directors, Senior Management and Senior Responsibility Officers in these organisation to ensure that we were exceeding their expectations or at the very least meeting them. I facilitated meetings between the senior management of Oracle UK and the US with these organisations to discuss plans for the future development of Oracle’s products and to air any grievances or dissatisfaction they may have.

After graduating from Warwick University I was placed on the graduate trainee program with British Airways and received training in computer operations, programming, and communication networks. One of my tasks was to produce the specification for a computer system to replace the existing manual process for tracking the components for Concorde. This inventory management system was implemented using IBM’s IMS database and bar-code technology. As an operator I was trained in the operation of BABS BA’s airline reservations and departure control system. BABS incorporated a global network using IBM’s message switching technology and their operating system called ACP/TPF.
