Profile bio

About D'Mari Creque, M.Ed.

Growing up as both an American Citizen and a Caribbean Islander, I struggled with feeling like I didn't belong in the different spaces that I occupied. As I came out as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and tried to assimilate to mainland American culture after moving from the US Virgin Islands, those feelings became magnified. Those experiences have significantly impacted the work I do, both in my professional and personal life.I begin my work by exploring the intersectionality of identities I and others possess and recognizing the different privileges we bring into specific spaces and conversations. Having this understanding allows me to be a better human rights activist across every sector in which I'm engaged. At the forefront of all of my work across Higher Education, Education Policy, Environmental Policy, and Music is my passion for inclusivity. I envision a world where everyone feels included and receives the support they need to be their best selves at work, home, and wherever life may lead them.In addition to this work, I'm an avid music fan who loves to sing and play the piano. I like to travel and try to take two international trips annually, including back home to the Virgin Islands. I'm also a big fan of cooking and baking Caribbean food.I would love to connect with you on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access, and Justice work and how we can foster diverse, inclusive, and just environments that ensure equitable access to all. Feel free to connect with me here or send me an email at dmari.creque@outlook.com. Thanks for stopping by!
