About Douglas Malcolm-Brown
After finishing my course in Rural Business Management Studies in Scotland, I moved to London to take up a job with a crewing company engaged in setting up stages, including lighting and sound as well as seating, for major events at venues like Wembley Stadium, O2 and the Royal Albert Hall. I was promoted to Crew chief within a year and stayed in the industry for a further year before deciding to return to University and complete a degree in Sustainable Environmental Management. During my various jobs in London, Hong Kong, Brighton and Aberdeen I developed many skills including team building and motivation, basic project management, leadership and management of staff, many of whom were senior to me in both age and experience. Technically I gained experience and certification in operating forklifts, telehandlers, scaffolding, stage building and, in my work as a chef attended food handling and hygiene courses. Although born in Hong Kong, my family home is in Stornoway and I was educated in Scotland. Throughout my life I have evolved my passionate interest in the environment into one of sustainability and researching how people can maintain present standards of living without further destruction or damage to the natural environment. I enjoy all outdoor pursuits like hiking/trekking, golf and angling.
