I learned so much while running two pharmacies. First, I figured out that the business principles I learned while running my other companies are universal. Second, making sure you have the right people (employees, business partners, investors, etc.) is paramount! I had no formal training in pharmacy or the medical industry, yet I was still able to make it work. You have to be very precise because profit margins are razor thin and regulations from the FDA, DEA, and State Boards of Pharmacy are so contradictory that you don't know which set of standards to implement. There definitely needs to be major reforms in our healthcare system. I do want to tell the pharmacy workers of the world that I appreciate all your hard work and you definitely should get paid more for what you do! While the pharmacy business can be lucrative if you are manufacturing (503B), I would say that owning a pharmacy business is not for most people, including me!

Recruit, interview and hire industrial craft and potential employee candidates. My responsibilities included industrial craft recruitment (pipefitters, boilermakers, millwrights, combination welders, electricians, civil crafts, etc.) including interview and processing, data entry, upkeep of the personnel file system and computer records, answer phone calls, scheduling of a variety of tests including but not limited to drug tests, weld & craft tests, physicals and safety orientation. I took my love for IT and became a skilled recruiter with solid experience in mid-volume recruitment with low amounts of turn-over. Maintained all employee complaints and performed full spectrum recruiting.Full-time, direct hire, agency recruiter supporting a sales representative to fill IT/IS requirements. Recruited, interviewed and tested applicants, checked references, scheduled on-site testing, including in-depth technical and substance screens. Primary source for applicants included cold calling and an in-house database.

This was the position where I first fused IT & Marketing together. I setup IT workflow and contributed to multiple fund raising events, managed IT services,and buying industrial / manufacturing products, which increased revenues from $500 thousand to $2 million in twelve months.Selected Job Responsibilities; Lead and trained staff on effective sales techniques, customer follow-ups, and computer data entry. Training included teaching sales associates to input clients into our system to track client/purchasing information and manage business operations for more than 2 manufacturing locations.Managed and staffed a new store. Achieved all sales and profit goals as set by the company. Successfully completed manufacturing requirements as required by legal standard for government contract work. Took on responsibilities outside home store in order to assist under-performing stores. Developed a customer benefits advertising program to capitalize on the most frequent customers. Suggested enhancements for the inventory process to provide price verification capabilities that were adopted company wide. Supervised two seasonal Kiosks (Galleria and Woodlands Mall) in addition to customary duties in order to test new marketing concepts. Used IT and Marketing skills to successfully handle workflow process and sales accountability in accordance with corporate policy. Successfully supervised two remote locations (Michigan and California) ranging up to 400 miles from base location.

My duties included hiring and training new employees and management in all skill areas of the unit. Scheduling of employees and management in the store. I would fill in for Network Technicians on calls periodically, and performed annual written evaluations of employees. Also, responsible for cash reconciliation's, bank deposits, and maintaining daily financial records.As a store manager I was responsible for light marketing duties including identified revenue-generating clients and developed action plans for efficient data collection. I effectively communicated my understanding of client business objectives, by establishing effective strategies, processes, and practices for communication. My greatest accomplishments at GAP were leading a team to implement a Customer Tracking and Scheduling system to track employee/customer information and manage business operations for more than 3 store locations.

Managed visits/service for 7 Schools, and 19 computer labs, (90 percent Macintosh Environment) installing and maintaining software applications. Monitored, troubleshoot, and repaired any disruption of service on network environments. Planned and coordinated recommendations for outside contracting for computer system and repairs. Planned recommendations for phasing out and/or replacement of technologies.Evaluated software compatibility for future hardware implementations. Developed databases to account for our Accounting Department invoices. Managed service for 35 network users for the Finance, Administration, and Annex office. Assisted REGION IV in maintaining connectivity to servers in other schools.
