About Denise Driscoll
In August of 2019, Dr. Denise Driscoll joined the Center for Innovative and Strategic Transformation of Alkane Resources (CISTAR), an NSF Engineering Research Center. Her goals as the CISTAR Director of Diversity and Inclusion are: 1) To broaden the participation of groups underrepresented in the petrochemical and fuels industry; 2) To create an inclusive center that supports, values, and rewards all its members to their fullest potential; and, 3) To prepare culturally intelligent (CQ), global engineers.Dr. Driscoll is interested in (1) Implicit bias and how to de-bias teams, (2) the types of managerial communication practices that create, and sustain, highly-effective diverse teams, and (3) educational and training methods that increase the CQ and global dexterity of managers. Dr. Driscoll is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University and founder of Diversity Competency LLC (a consulting company started in 2008). Dr. Driscoll was an advisor to the MBAs for several case competitions, an advisor for an annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) charity pitch competition, and an advisor for several MBA clubs (Women in Management, and Toastmasters). In addition, Dr. Driscoll had several undergraduate and MBA students who were part of a research team on implicit bias.

Dr. Driscoll wrote grants, played a central role in two assessments of Purdue’s diversity climate, advised schools, colleges, units, and local businesses about diversity best practices, as well as developed, facilitated, and assessed diversity training programs for faculty, staff, graduate students, and individuals in the community (i.e., the police, staff in public agencies, etc.). Some examples of the workshops she developed are as follows: Mentoring and Diversity; Diversity and Classroom Teaching; Diversity and Going Abroad; Working with International Students; Communicating Cross-culturally.
