Provide mechanical, electrical, and information systems support for the production of engine bearings for OEM automotive customers. Primary responsibility is to continually improve existing processes and manage the addition or modification of machinery and tooling to support new business. Support also includes repairing breakdowns; training operators and developing work instructions; and designing and implementing SQL database systems for collecting and reporting production, quality control, maintenance, and spare parts inventory data.

Responsible for design and fabrication of custom material handling equipment. Products included conveyors, lift, turn, and tilt tables, ergonomic assistance devices, and delivery carts. Design duties included generating initial concepts, prototype and production system designs, component specification, and creating production drawings. Management responsibilities included production scheduling; supervising engineering, shop personnel, and purchasing; performing quality inspections and safety audits; and maintaining shop facilities and equipment.

Developed curriculum, presented material, and led student projects in mechanical, architectural, and civil engineering design and drafting. Responsibilities also included providing students with academic and career counseling, working with employers to improve the career-focused curriculum, and managing lab software and hardware upgrades.

Helped automotive OEM suppliers rapidly develop complex cast and molded components. Design engineers normally served as a design liaison between the OEM and suppliers, or as a source for rapid tooling design during periods of emergency schedule repair.Created concept, prototype, and production CAD models of suspension and powertrain castings for various vehicle programs. Helped train designers through instruction and documentation of the best practices. Management duties included developing new customer accounts, overseeing financial and legal operations, and development and implementation of the company's ISO9000-compliant quality management system.

Designed and managed development of new products for OEM and aftermarket customers in the automotive, RV, and marine industries. Design duties included measuring and remodeling vehicle surfaces using a portable CMM, then developing 3D product models to fit the digitized data, and finally generating CNC tool paths for prototype tooling. Also conducted analysis and road tests to improve wind-noise, vibration, and fit characteristics of various products. Project management responsibilities included coordinating new product development and distribution with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing, and fulfilling rigorous quality assurance requirements for OEM customer accounts.

Performed engineering for the Beams Division Mechanical Support Department, which designs, implements, and maintains all accelerator utilities and support structures. Managed the design reconfiguration of the Tevatron Low Conductivity Water (LCW) System to accommodate the addition of a new particle accelerator and a new experimental hall. This work included analysis of legacy equipment, design of pump and piping layouts, managing contractors' time and material costs, and enforcing safety regulations throughout all construction work. Participated in design reviews of new accelerator components. Reviews included preparation and presentation of engineering calculations, including linear and non-linear structural and thermal FEA. Also helped design and build automated experiments to verify the analysis results.
