Experimental techniques being used include linear and extensional rheology, DMA, TGA, DSC, multipass rhometry. These are then analysed with constitutive theories for polymer melts and CFD simulations are used to analyse various aspects of the stress response to flow. Show less

Lecturer in the Numerical Analysis group in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. I lectured undergraduate classes ranging from 20 to 200 students at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. I was the PI on an EPSRC impact acceleration award with the adhesives company Henkel. We used mathematical models and experimental rheology to describe the flow properties of various polyurethane adhesives to give the company a predictive tool for understanding how to process new formulations.

I was a post-doctoral research associate working on an ERC grant, “Geometry, instability and activity in complex and biological fluids”. My research focus was using linear stability analysis and non-linear numerical simulations to characterise the onset of instability (necking) when drawing out a filament of complex fluid such as polymer solutions, polymer melts and soft-glassy materials.

I equipped myself with several experimental techniques which added to my theoretical background and enabled me to gain knowledge transfer funding to work with two companies.
