David Minot is the Executive Director of Mental Health News Education (MHNE), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that publishes Autism Spectrum News and Behavioral Health News.Inspired by his father Ira's personal journey with serious mental illness, which led to Ira founding MHNE in 1999, David joined MHNE in 2007, offering a unique perspective as someone who grew up in the shadow of his father's illness. David has dedicated his professional career to enhancing the lives of individuals affected by autism, mental illness, and substance use disorders, as well as providing support to their families, caregivers, and the professional communities that serve them.In 2008, David founded Autism Spectrum News, a resource that provides evidence-based information, education, resources, and practical guidance to enhance the quality of life for autistic individuals while also combatting the harmful effects of stigma. With an esteemed Editorial Board, the publication’s trusted science-based content guides readers in the right direction from the very beginning.David's outstanding contributions to the autism field were recognized in 2022 when he and Autism Spectrum News received The Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation Leader in Adult Autism Award from the esteemed Autism Society of America. This prestigious honor serves as a testament to David's dedication and leadership in advancing acceptance and creating a platform of expression for Autistic adults.In early 2023, David Minot and Behavioral Health News collaborated with the New York State Office of Mental Health to host an impactful four-part Mental Health Stigma Roundtable Discussion Series. This series united individuals with lived experience, advocates, policy makers, mental health providers, community leaders, researcher experts, and media figures in purposeful conversations aimed at driving positive change and eradicating mental health stigma.
