CurrentMilitary automotive Auxiliary Power Units (APU), over-pressure systems (OPS), electronics cooling, air conditioning. Refrigeration cycle thermodynamic analysis, design of heat exchangers of plate and fin, tube and fin, micro-tube types, hydraulic systems circuit analysis, aerodynamic design of multi-stage axial and mixed flow fans, centrifugal fan design and scroll shape optimization, air distribution ductwork, active electronics cooling with water/brine cold plates and air-cooled heat sinks. Proprietary design process for Turbomachinery (fans, compressors) w/ “inverse” design methods (using Advanced Design Technology software). CFD software package currently in use CD Adapco “Star CCM+”: turbulent micro-scale single phase (air, water) flows, fan aerodynamics and noise, multi-phase refrigerant and oil flows, electronics cooling. In addition, a number of numerical spreadsheet analysis and optimization tools are programmed using Visual Basic and validated in testing (Agilent DAQ, LabView interface), these are being used as an engineering baseline before any of a more time-consuming analysis is being attempted. CFD results are vigorously compared to engineering analysis and validated with test results as needed.
